Addendum: I wanted to answer a few questions now that they have come in.

The situation I had this upgraded for was for my 5.1 audio/video system.

The best playback the modified 205 produces in my system is via the internal disc player...BluRay, SACD or CDs...I don't own any 4K stuff.

That is with my Audio Research MP1 multichannel preamp using the RCA inputs. I believe for best SQ in my system with the modified Oppo 205 is with a good preamp. I have tried directly to an amp and I prefer a preamp. I have only used the ARC MP1 with this Oppo. It's a great preamp.

Next best performance out of the modified 205 is between Roon Ready input or USB. I am not sure. I need to listen critically again.

The least effective input (and most used) is the HDMI input into the 205 via my HTPC. Because of the upgraded analogue outputs the HDMI is a highly satisfying 5.1 experience for video though not as satisfying for SQ as the optical drive, USB or Roon Ready...though not all capable of 5.1.

The Oppo 205 has a button on the remote called Pure Audio. It disconnects the video activity in the 205. It is for optimal audio and has no video output. If you own a stock 205 and you can't hear the difference between audio playing with and without the Pure Audio engaged then this unit might not be for you. But I can clearly hear the improvement engaging Pure Audio. In all the Oppos I have owned before I have never been able to make that distinction.

These are the cost to have TSi-Tek complete further upgrades of interest to the Oppo 205's 2 channel XLR outputs:

Using Statement Level Parts - 500.00

Using No Limits Level Parts - 750.00

Then there are other options you can go into regarding LPSUs and clocking. I ordered the recommended best bang for the buck in my situation. The sky becomes the limit. I feel it is at a very nice investment to return at this point. Especially at this used price.

Flawless Oppo 205. It was sent to ASi-Tek for modifications. After talking to Doug we decided to do the Statement Level Modifications. We skipped the 2 channel rebuild as this was to be used in a 5.1 system exclusively. So we added the 5.1 X-Former analogue rebuild instead....plus a few other options. I didn't do the full 7.1 because it is unneeded at this time. If I was to need it I could return it to ASi-Tek.

The modifications took the Oppo 205 to a whole new level of performance....even using HDMI input from my HTPC. The 2 channel playback via the 5.1 analogue was pretty spectacular.

The background noise of the Oppo 205 was noticeably lower than stock. All the shielding, grounding and resonance control was effective and made for a very solid performing presentation. I feel the HDMI video signal was similarly leveled up with the modifications as well.

I am now changing my multichannel system to basically just movie playback. My Lyngdorf MP-50 pre/pro doesn't accept analogue inputs. That makes many of the modifications unused in this setup. For that reason I am going to let the Oppo go.

I don't have the original box and Oppo has none to sell. I bought a SKB flight case for shipping. It is a much better option! Especially if you want to send it back to Asi-Tek for more upgrades. I will get a picture soon.

I paid $2000.00 for the Oppo a few months ago. I spent $1800.00 with ASi-Tek. Plus a $250.00 ASA Flight Case. That totals $4050.00.

I am asking 3300.00 and I will pay for shipping and any Paypal fees that might be incurred.

I would consider trades for an Oppo 203....or other higher end equivalent.

It is even more effective to use the Oppo 205 with one of the Audio Research MP1 multichannel preamps that I have for sale.
