Ayre Acoustics DX-5 DSD universal *disc* player (“universal AV engine”) for sale, plays Blu-ray discs, DVD’s, SACD’s, CD’s, HDCD’s, CD-ROMS, etc. and has a very high-quality, high-resolution USB input with a precise internal master clock for stunning sound and image overall. No very low offers, please. This is a much higher quality universal disc player than an Oppo or an Arcam (no offense intended to those companies) as examples. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Review from "The Audio Beat":

"First and foremost, the [DX-5 DSD]'s digital-to-analog circuit has been extensively revised. Whereas the original DX-5 used Burr-Brown DSD1792A DACs, the DX-5 DSD uses ESS ES9016 Sabre DACs, which can decode PCM data at up to 32 bits along with DSD data, and feature onboard jitter reduction and DSP. The player's master clocks were replaced with low-phase-noise modules that run at twice the frequency, which, again according to [Charles] Hansen, 'allow[s] the ESS DAC chip to perform at a higher level.' Changes were made to the *analog circuitry* and [the] power supply, and an AC-power supply for the USB input was added, providing 'uniformly superior performance.'" --http://www.theaudiobeat.com/blog/ayre_dx5_dsd.htm

  • Sound quality from SACD’s *outperforms* Ayre’s own very famous C-5exMP (https://www.stereophile.com/hirezplayers/705ayre/index.html).
  • Reference-level asynchronous [isosynchronous] USB DAC (supports both PCM and 2xDSD), subjectively better sounding than the Berkeley Audio Design Alpha Series 2 DAC with the companion Alpha USB (USB-to-S/PDIF converter).
  • Universal audio and video disc player with remote control and asynchronous USB data input. Formats supported: Blu-ray (BD-Video, BD-Audio), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, AVCHD, SACD, CD, HDCD, Kodak Picture CD, CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW, DVD±R DL, BD-R/RE. Analog outputs: 1 pair each unbalanced (RCA) and balanced (XLR). Digital outputs: AES/EBU (XLR), HDMI audio, HDMI A/V. Digital inputs: USB, Ethernet LAN. Maximum output levels: 2.0V RMS (single-ended), 4.0V RMS (balanced). DSD: 2.0V RMS (balanced), 1.0V RMS (single-ended). Frequency ranges: DC–20kHz at 44.1kHz, DC–22Hz at 48kHz, DC–40kHz at 88kHz, DC–44.1kHz at 96kHz, DC–80kHz at 176.4kHz, DC–88kHz at 192kHz, DC–100kHz at 2.8224MHz (2x DSD).
