I am the original owner of the Joule Electra La-150 Signature which is the top of the la-150 model and is a step up from the MkII which preceded it. 6 years old. Judd Barber, to me, is the Shindo of America, a true artisan. He hand built each preamp and when you look inside you can tell he carefully chose each component in his attempt to produce a true artisan product. The LA-150 was raved about by Harry Pearson (not sure if it was the mkii or the Signature). The ability of the preamp to withdraw all the details of the music and present it in a beautiful musical form is wonderful. I went to a 300B integrated system about two years ago so i am now selling. I held onto it just in case i wanted to go back to higher powered amplification.
It uses 6350 tubes and I am including a lifetime stock of twenty 6350s that have all been professionally tested by TC tube testing. I know almost all of them to be true NOS Sylvanias (the best 6350 brand). One pair is a platinum pair of Sylvanias from 1957 that I purchased from Tube World ($125.) and have been cryo treated. It sounded so good with stock tubes, I didn't bother to install the platinum cryod tubes.
Comes with remote.
When I purchased, Joule Electra was being marketed for Barber by MCV Consulting which also was handling Spectron amps which are a synergistic dream with Joule Electra. I am also listing a Spectron amp. Together they are amazing. I demoed side by side the Pass all class A integrated and the $14000.Symphonic Line integrated and there was simply no comparison. The joule/spectron combo simply soared above these other highly regarded integrateds. So much detail and dynamics combined with a musicality found only in my opinion in SET setups.
I have original boxes and manuals.
