This pre-amp has been at the center of my system performance for a few years now and it always amazes me with its top to bottom frequency handling, dynamic range, nuance, sound-staging, imaging and overall “very non solid state” conveyance of whatever music I am playing.  I’ve heard a lot of pre-amps and there are many great ones.  I’ve heard and directly compared this to the new C-02X and frankly don’t hear much if any difference.  The only pre-amp in the Esoteric line that beats this is the Grandioso C1 at more than 2X the price.

Many who have heard it say that if it is not ’the’ best solid-state line-stage they’ve heard, that it’s on a very short list.

I’ve had this wonderful pre-amp for approximately 4 years.  Reason for selling…thanks to my latest almost entirely active speaker setup with Legacy Wavelet, this pre-amp is no longer strictly needed and I’ll either stick with Wavelet only or eventually move to a Grandioso C1.
