Audio Research DAC-8

This is a very, very good DAC.  I used the Logitech transporter alone for years, then added this DAC roughly three years ago.  I woud have stayed with this setup, but my wife wanted a ‘simpler’ system to operate.   I bought the Roon Nucleus+ server, and the Lumin T2.  The single box Lumin is simpler, and the Roon interface is better than most ‘free’ apps.  The overall sound is ‘better’ but not that much better than this DAC.   In fact, I setup the Nucleus+ with the Transporter/DAC8 for several weeks before getting the Lumin.  I definitely think the bigger difference in sound was from the Nucleus server (and assume the Roon interface), than the addition of teh $4500 Lumin.  Go figure, I didn’t think the server would have that much impact. Regardless, this is an Excellent DAC.
I am the second owner, and bought it here on Audiogon roughly three years ago.  The condition is 9/10 but being conservative with 8/10 due to the age and being the second owner.   I connected into the digital XLR input, and output was through the XLR’s into my Audio Research LS26.  There are multiple digital connections into the unit, and XLR or RCA outputs.  I have the manual, original box, remote, and CD driver software should you want to update any drivers (I never did any of that).
