The Supernova 5+ employs 280 individual glass fiber optic light conductors with precision polished terminations.
Conventional fiber optic digital audio cables utilize plastic conductors, which are far less transparent than optical-grade glass. These plastic materials filter the light spectrum of the digital audio signal, removing the energy needed by the digital processor to accurately decode the signal. The result of this filtering is digital jitter, the intermittent loss of synchronization between the digital processor and the signal, which creates audible distortion and noise.
