I am selling this beautiful LSA Statement "Plus" integrated amplifier. It is a hybrid design, with tubes in the line stage and a massive, solid-state power amplifier stage. When it was still in production in the late 2000's, this particular model (see below) sold for $11,000.
LSA sold three iterations of this amplifier: Standard, Signature and Statement. As was the case with LSA's line of loudspeakers (still sold and developed by Underwood Hi-Fi) the upgrades and modifications to this amplifier were designed and executed by John Tucker, the engineer and designer behind Exemplar Audio. The Statement level amp's modifications (over the Signature) included major upgrades to various parts and adding a second, gigantic output transformer, taking the entire unit to true, dual-mono topology. This is like having two separate, mono block power amplifiers in a single case. It outputs 150 very robust watts into an 8 ohm load, and doubles to 300 W into a 4 ohm speaker load. As you can see from the photos, it comes with a built-in, moving magnet phono stage as well as one pair of balanced inputs and three line-level inputs.
The amplifier I have for sale, the Statement "Plus" was a further upgrade to the unit. It included a complete replacement and upgrading of the line stage. These "super upgraded" LSA amps can be distinguished by the gold "exemplar audio" badge added to the front face of the amp.
A friend of mine is a devotee of these amps and owns several of them. After borrowing one of his to play in my system, I fell in love with its gorgeous, effortless sound and decided I was going to search for one. I was lucky enough to find a single owner, unbelievably clean specimen from the Seattle area. As you can see from the photos, it is a big, beautiful amplifier (it weighs over 80 pounds), built like the proverbial tank with almost no signs of external we are whatsoever.
I recently shipped the amp back to designer John Tucker in Tennessee for a checkup. John went over the amp, brought it up to factory spec, and gave it a clean bill of health. I am only selling it because for some reason (possibly my 95 dB sensitive Spatial M3 Turbo S speakers) the amp exhibits a faint hum in my rig and I’m fussy about that sort of thing (even though I can’t here the hum when music is playing).
The printed owner’s manual and original shipping carton are included.
This is a gorgeous sounding amp. It is powerful enough to drive almost any speakers you can throw at it. Even the plain vanilla Statement version got rave reviews, and this one is substantially better! See these two reviews:
