Balanced EI Ultra isolation transformer 220V – 240V (selectable) HIGH SPEC

Selling a premium quality, 220v – 240v fully balanced EI Ultra isolation
transformer. Rarely will you see a unit like this second hand. It was custom made
for me by J&K Audio Design (to Level 3, their highest spec available) and is
designed to be used with source components, eg: turntable, phono stage, digital
source components.

Having said that, I found it also did wonders for my Audio Research
REF75SE tube power amp!

It has 3 Schuko power sockets, rated at 400VA, 240VA and 60VA for my
phonostage, CD player and turntable respectively.

  built with OCC copper magnet wire (OCC = Ohno Continuous Cast)


• Premium grade Z9 transformer SiFe core, made

The result? In addition to the standard improvements of darker
background, lower noise, better detail and spaciousness, bass tautness and
extension was improved significantly.

I’m selling because I want to commission another smaller transformer from J&K as we are moving house and my new room is much smaller. My loss is your gain!

Why EI and not Toroid for source components?

* Toroid has better efficiency and therefore better suited to high power
applications. But, toroid has higher bandwidth and therefore is not a good
filter or isolation device. Toroid has more noise that leaks through the
primary/secondary compared to EI.

* Most importantly, EI sounds warmer, cleaner, better bass definition, less
sibilance, and better body when compared to toroid. EI is the one to use if the
power required is not extremely high. 

* Toroid has lesser radiated magnetic field compared to EI and may be
acceptable to use un-potted but once EI is properly potted, it will have
similar behavior on radiated noise.
