Tube Technology Unisis Signature Integrated Amplifier - EL84 35Wpc valve amp - UK hifi

Probably the best known kit of TT's amplifier line. 35Wpc and original tube set distinguishing with its Russian EL84 stack. Well-built, all-England engineering and construction, and striking metalwork for a classic hifi presentation. Phonostage is BYO - not the built-in upgrade option.

I originally purchased in 2006 from North Country Audio when Zia Faruqi's kits had some Canadian and US representation. Meant to pair up w/ my set of Tetra 120u speakers and a Rega P2 for a vinyl only rig. The military life had me travel a good bit and never got around to setting this up.

Two pairs of EL84 tubes per channel offer the 35Wpc - push-pull, class-AB, ultralinear mode. 12AX7s enclosed within the chassis work as the preamplification tubes, and exposed 12AT7s serve in the driver stage. Opts with five single-ended, line-level inputs. A rotary knob on the front panel powers up the amp - and is one of the highlights of operating this kit.

Recently back from Baltimore Maryland's Just Audio techs for an assessment, service, and (finally) tube biasing. Components deliver the goods (esp. caps are sound), and cosmetically it's as I purchased it - save during the recent shop visit while mounting tubes the 'Signature" has all but rubbed off to a "Sig[. ]" under the "Unisis" plate (see pic). Includes original box, owner's manual, and NA outlet plug/mains. Rating as VG to Excellent for listing purposes, 8/10 on the Audiogon scale is more accurate.

$1199 and buyer covers shipping. Perhaps some maneuver room for the very swift and serious.

This is a fantastically executed vision, originally selling ~$5K. The principal has a long standing relationship with Manley Labs and started TT as a going concern "with my own ideas for power-supply design and my own modern take on how to implement tubes in an audio circuit." It's audiophile gear, so there's a range of opinion among the most opinionated and demanding tribe on the planet - but there's a lot of regard for this "belting" amp. TT is effectively out of operation, but this is a kit any tube-savvy audio tech or DIYer can handle. The British marque, low-to-no production schedule offer a myth just outside obscurity to the hifi set, one of the rare things you still have to search for and learn about cf. have all the data shoveled up to you.

If you're in discovery mode re TT kit it's worth the web search - and the TT legacy site links to online version of owner's manual, etc. There's the occassional youtube video - and there are lots of occassional conversations on other audio/hifi forums re Unisis soundstage and regard in the tube amp cult.
