I’m selling a Linear Tube Audio MZ3 preamplifier that cost $3,700. I purchased it at the end of last month and it’s only been used for less than 10 hours. It’s literally “brand new” and not broken in yet.

I’m asking $2,900 and I”ll pay the Audiogon fees ($5 + 2% transaction fee) and the effective PayPal fee (effectively 3.5%). That amounts to $169.50 (5 + 63 + 101.50). You pay the actual FedEx ground insured shipping cost from me to you.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS BEAUTIFUL AMP?

Unfortunately, I just sold my home (here in Michigan) and I’m now discovering that I either have to store this amp in a storage unit where I currently live or sell it. Storing isn’t a good thing to do particularly during the next winter (which more than likely will happen) so it’s better to let it go now and re-purchase later.

I now realize that purchasing this expensive audio component should have been done next year when I eventually settle in a new home. It will easily be 1/2 to up to 1 year before I have a new place where I can listen to my audio system again.

My home sale closing (for my home here in Michigan) is next month (in June).

The Boston real estate market is so darn expensive (3rd most expensive real estate city in the US) that I really need to “hang loose” and rent temporary housing (maybe in more than one location) until I find a home to purchase. It’s not going to be easy as I’m now finding out.


MY IMPRESSIONS FOR THESE TWO AMPS (the MZ3 and the Ultralinear power amp I just sold)


The Ultralinear power amp and MZ3 preamp both were connected to my audio system for only a very short time so I could hear both components. I was “blown away” by the results and cannot believe how superb and beautiful it’s sound quality is particularly when the Ultralinear amp is paired with the MZ3 preamplifier. Sound quality is the best I’ve heard anywhere and I’ve been buying, selling, and building audio equipment for several decades.

These two amps easily could be a “desert island” “final purchase” for any discerning audiophile and that is what I originally had planned to do - keep them for a very long time.
I”m now selling both the brand new Linear Tube Audio Ultralinear power amplifier and the brand new Linear Tube Audio MZ3 preamplifier.


CONCLUSION


The combination of the MZ3 preamplifier and the Ultralinear power amplifier is a match “made in heaven”. I doubt there is a finer sounding preamp/poweramp combination anywhere close to the price of these two units. If there is, I haven’t heard it. Either component easily compares to preamps and power amps 2 to 3 times their selling price.
When you spend some time to read the reviews that are available, you’ll understand that what I’m sharing is true. This MZ3 preamp is extremely flexible and is a new component just released by Linear Tube Audio. Check out their website for additional information.


Until you hear either one (or both) of these amplifiers in your own home, you won’t truly appreciate what anyone who has listened or reviewed these two amplifiers has to say about the unbelievable sound quality. These are some of the finest designs that David Berning has shared with Linear Tube Audio, and I cannot imagine anything sounding better (at any price), just different. These truly are representatives of the very best and at “the top” of the audio components available today.
