Sonic Frontiers Line 1 Special Edition Stereo Tube Preamplifier

For sale is a near-pristine Sonic Frontiers Line 1SE, rated 8 only because of age. This preamp has been in my system for about 16 years and has never been exposed to smoke or pets. It is a wonderful complement to other reasonably priced high-end audio equipment and would be right at home in virtually any tube or solid-state system. The unit was retubed about 400 hours ago with a matched set of six 6H23p-eb’s (rugged, 10,000-hour Russian military 6922 from the 1980’s) purchased from Parts Connection.

When I bought this unit, it was the opinion of many in our community that the Line 1SE was a better performer than the Line 2, which was Stereophile Class A rated. It was only surpassed by the Sonic Frontier Line 2SE and the Line 3. It is extremely neutral in sound, very detailed, with a glorious mid-range bloom that still makes me smile after all these years. You could easily spend twice this amount for a unit that does not sound as good.

It comes complete with the original silver puck remote control, original packaging, original tube boxes, screwdriver and cloth gloves to handle the tubes, and owner’s manual. Included is a brand new upgraded CONNEX Power Cord.

The tubes will be left in place and protected by a piece of foam that ensures the safe transport. The cover will need to be removed. It will be secured with four screws, with the remaining screws in an attached packet.

My only reason for selling is that I have just purchased a Line 2 SE+.
