Please note that each turntable is custom made after you place your order, and will take about 3 weeks to ship.

Please contact us via [email protected] if you'd like a color other than white (we have several options that are constantly changing - just ask us for your preference).

While the original Technics SL-1200MK2 is a wonderful turntable, we made some unique modifications to make it better suited for your HiFi system.

This is not a new concept as Technics recently discontinued the SL-1200MK2, made a few tweaks, and then re-released it to the HIFI market at three times the original cost!

We start with an SL-1200MK2 (which many believe was the sweet spot for this model), fully test and service it, and replace any electrical components that are showing any signs of age.

We then service and tune the tonearm to perfection, and install a fabulous new Sumiko Blue Point No. 2 MC (Moving-Coil) Cartridge.

We also offer a range of other phono cartridges that can be mounted and calibrated for you.  And if you already have a favorite cartridge you’re welcome to send it in and we’ll mount and professionally calibrate it on the table for you. Choosing a different cartridge can be daunting since there are so many options, so contact us here to help you find the right fit.

(If you're unfamiliar with the setup of a turntable we can help on the phone or via FaceTime during your initial unboxing.  We’ve done this a bunch of times with great success).

We then fit some very high quality machined aluminum suspension feet to give it a bit more isolation.  We finish the top plate in a white gloss powder coat to make it look a bit more distinct, and replace the original dull orange incandescent strobe with super bright white LED's.

Underneath the platter we install a user controllable RGB LED strip to give it some subtle glow, perfect for those late night darkened room listening sessions.  It's currently set to white which is subtle and coherent, but can be changed to any color you desire with the supplied remote control.

Finally, we change out the factory hard-wired RCA cables for a higher quality name brand set with a bit of extra length so you can position the table in an optimal spot.

The turntables look like new and are set to work another 30 years.

We are including a dust cover that sits on top (not hinged) which is a bit worn, but will do the job if you must use one.

*The cork mat and record weight in the pictures are not included in this listing but we have similar items available if you wish to order some.

Technical Specifications and Details:

The original Technics SL1200 was introduced in 1972 and featured a servo-controlled direct-drive mechanism and EPA-120 tonearm. The turntable was also available without an arm as the SL-120.

In 1979 the mkII was released with a Quartz Locked Phase control system providing exceptional pitch accuracy and an aluminum die-cast cabinet which had a special heavy-duty rubber base to isolate the turntable from external vibration.

The SL-1210 model is virtually identical to the SL-1200 but features voltage selection and is usually finished in black instead of silver.

When Technics introduced the original SL-1200 direct drive turntable several years ago, it made all other turntables seem antiquated in comparison.

It became a strong favorite among audio purists, amateur and professional, and was particularly popular in discos because of its rugged construction, easy handling, high torque and good immunity to feedback.

The mkII represents the next generation, incorporating numerous improvements over the original.

In addition to being quartz-locked, it permits continuous speed adjustment under quartz control, a feature appreciated by disco DJ's who wish to maintain consistent rhythm when changing records.

Its starring torque is high, with the platter reaching speed within 0.7seconds from a standstill.

It also maintains the selected speed better than the original SL-1200.

It should also prove virtually feedback proof because of its special base design.

WHO WE ARE:

SkyFi Audio is a small startup business specializing in the purchase, reconditioning, and reselling of select high-end audio equipment. We only buy equipment the we admire and are passionate about. No mid-fi, no gimmicks, no junk.

Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. If it does not meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications, it will not be sold. We are very selective about the equipment we purchase, focusing on mostly analog, high-build quality, American, and European built units.

Through our sister company which is an authorized dealer for McIntosh, Audio Research, Sonus Faber, ClearAudio, Pro-Ject Audio Systems, and Sony ES, we have access to OEM parts, service, and support. If you’re local and looking for new equipment from the above-mentioned manufacturers, please drop us a line as we can arrange both sales and professional installation in the tri-state area.

PURCHASING GUIDELINES:

We do not accept or review any offers that do not go through the official Audiogon system. We have too many items for sale and it’s nearly impossible to keep track of offers outside of the official system. Please don’t message, email, or text any offers.

PAYMENTS:

We prefer working through PayPal which allows you to use a credit card, bank transfer, and their special financing to spread out payments over six months. We do not charge extra for any PayPal fees if you purchase the item at the asking price. You can also send us a personal check (which will need to clear before shipping), certified check, money order, or bank wire transfer. International clients without access to PayPal should use a bank wire transfer.

If you’re picking up an item, we do not accept PayPal. You must pay in person with a certified check, bank check, or wire transfer. If you make a PayPal payment and are picking up the item, your PayPal payment will be returned.

TRADE IN POLICY:

We accept trade-ins of equal or lesser value under certain conditions. Simply click here to submit your gear for full consideration. We will only consider high-end equipment from mainstream manufacturers such as McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Audio Research, Krell, etc. and will typically pass on displays, projectors, receivers, dated surround processors, and mid-fi equipment of any type. We will offer a fair value for your equipment, but keep in mind we’re running a business and will need to be able to resell the equipment at a profit after investing a great deal of time and resources in testing, certifying, repairing, cleaning, and packaging the incoming equipment. If you’re looking for top dollar, we suggest selling direct on your own.

SELL US YOUR GEAR (Working or Broken):

We’ll also purchase your used or broken gear and arrange pickup if you’re in our local market. Simply click here to submit your gear for full consideration.

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT:

We are currently operating from our shop inside our dedicated building in Glen Rock, NJ. You’re welcome to make an appointment if there’s a piece of equipment you’d like to see in operation before or after purchase. We have several well-equipped and dedicated listening areas, plus a dedicated listening studio with tons of equipment of all makes and models. We’re not a store, so please don’t make an appointment if you’re just curious as to how a speaker or piece of equipment sounds. In essence - no tire kickers please.

You can call or text 201-879-0000 with any questions or to schedule an appointment. We can also arrange to install, calibrate, and tune your newly purchased gear in your listening room if you’re local to our area. This is super useful when purchasing large speakers or heavy amplifiers. It’s also great for ensuring your new turntable is setup correctly in its final resting place.
