Teac UD-301-B Overview

The black Teac UD-301-B is a dual monaural digital to analog audio converter designed to provide premium audio reproduction for audiophiles and music connoisseurs in listening rooms, home audio setups, and studios. Its dual mono design uses separate converters and amplifiers for the left and right channels to eliminate crosstalk between channels.

High-resolution Burr-Brown converters support PCM audio up to 32-bit / 192 kHz resolution and DSD audio up to 1-bit / 5.6 MHz resolution. Digital signal can be sourced from coaxial, optical, or USB inputs. When streaming via USB, the UD-301-B allows jitter-reducing asynchronous transmission, which uses the internal clock to adjust and stabilize the timing of the input signal.

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs are available on the back panel. Their levels can be set to fixed, variable, or off via a 3-position switch. The front-panel 1/4” headphone jack utilizes a motor-driven volume knob for smooth level adjustment.

5.6 MHz DSD Native Playback

  • USB input allows DSD native playback that converts 5.6 MHz DSD data directly into analog signals without needing to first convert them to PCM
  • Supports both the ASIO2.1 and DoP (DSD over PCM) conversion methods
  • Using the AI-301DA Digital-To-Analog Converter in conjunction with the high-resolution playback PC application, TEAC HR audio player (downloadable for free from the TEAC website), the user can access high-resolution digital audio, including 5.6 MHz DSD or 32-bit / 192 kHz PCM files without having to deal with complex settings

Asynchronous USB Input

  • When receiving digital audio signals from a computer via a USB cable, the device can operate in asynchronous mode—the timing of the input signal is controlled by the device's internal clock
  • With asynchronous transmission over USB, signal-compromising jitter is effectively eliminated, allowing transmission of clean digital audio signal

Up to 192 kHz Up-Conversion Option

  • When handling digital signals up to 96 kHz, the user has the option to up-convert to double or quadruple the original signal sampling frequency
  • When playing back a 44.1 kHz sound source (equivalent to CD sound quality) a smoother analog audio signal can be obtained in order to convert to a higher resolution digital signal
  • Up-conversion can be enabled/disabled by the user

Dual Monaural Design

  • Each of the left and right channels has its own single monaural circuit
  • Prevents mutual interference between the left and right channels and enables pure stereo playback

MUSE Operational Amplifier

  • One MUSES8920 operational amplifier unit is used for each channel (left and right)
  • MUSES8920 operational amplifier unit is designed for hi-fi audio and made by New Japan Radio

BurrBrown PCM1795 DAC

  • Internal Burr-Brown 1795 digital-to-analog converters for each channel (left and right) for true dual monaural operation
  • Digital-to-analog converters are capable of 32-bit processing, and are hence able to process 5.6 MHz DSD data in large quantities

Dual Monaural Headphone Amplifiers Used in the CCLC Circuits
