Selling a pair of Altec Lansing A8's, from the 70's. I was told they were pulled from the North Park Theater in San Diego years ago when it was renovated. They sat in storage for years. I bought them a year or two ago. The cabinets were painted by the previous owner, so they do not have the Altec finish. These have the plastic 32b bent horn. The cabinets are rough. I had planned to have new boxes built, but am going another direction.
The compression drivers are new Great Plains Audio 909's (16ohm) that I purchased. The low-frequency drivers are Altec 416-16Z, and are in excellent condition. I did remove one dust cap to reset the disc that covers the pole piece. I have a replacement cap but haven't yet installed it.
The original crossovers - N800F - are in working order. I tested them briefly but built my own clones. The 10uf caps in the low freq path are now Clarity Cap CMR - the photo shows the Obbligato. Both networks are included in the sale.
They sound excellent, and could be a great project.
Local pickup only. Do not want to ship these.
