Belles Soloist 5 Amplifier - A musical mighty mouse

I purchased this amp on Audiogon about 8 months ago for a secondary system that never materialized. I played it for about 2 weeks and was impressed with the musical sound and its ability to control the speakers.

Sooo, this amp was rated a 9/10 ( like most on Audiogon) when I purchased it. When I received it there was a very small focal mark on the the lower front face panel that was not disclosed. This would make it a 7/10 based on Audiogon rating system. The amp plays without issue and the rest of body is in very good + condition. The mark it self is small and I doubt it would be noticeable in a rack from normal listening distance. See attached pictures.

Still, it is there, so I am listing this amp as a 7 out of 10 condition.

The Soloist 5 comes from the same amplifier lineage that brought us the world renowned 150 reference and the 150 Hot Rod. You get much of the same sonic characteristics at a fraction of the price. The Soloist has firm bass/speaker control, with a damping factor of 500! In addition, it has a very fluid musical midrange and highs. Great reviews from HiFi News, and The Absolute Sound raved about its imaging and sound staging.

Subjective stuff:

I plugged the Belles Soloist 5 into my reference system last night. I can say that with accustic music and vocals this amplifier is excellent and an incredible value even at the original msrp of $1200. Playing the long and winding road from Let it be naked - the vocals are clear and distinct in space with excellent tone and inflection. On Diana Krall stop this world the piano and vocals sound like they are in the room with subtle nuances easily picked up and adding to the realism. Manhattan Transfer track Cantaloop shows off how quick, nimble and the control this amp has over your speakers, probably due to the high damping factor. This was with an 88 db speaker.
