Marantz PM-14S1

This amp is in excellent condition with one very very small scratch on the top of one of the metal side flanks. I tried my best to capture it in a picture but it wasn't easy as its pretty faint. As I type this I'm trying to see it again in the light from the window and I'm having a hard time finding it.  This amp sounds fantastic with a very buttery rich detailed relaxing sound. I've found it to be very detailed and displaying all of those things that are normally not apparent whether it's background vocals or percussion or synth parts. While it's very detailed it is also very warm and has kind of a rounded off sound. So it displays everything you want to hear that makes listening exciting but doesn't do it with too much of a glaring microscope but instead it kind of washes over you naturally. This was definitely a product that caused me to run the gambit on CDs and records to compare other amps as well as listen for things I hadn't heard before.
With that said, my choice of speakers combined with my preferred sound characteristics have led me to realize that this is not the amp for me. I wish it was because I love it in so many ways but after quite a long time of trying to make myself have it become my end piece, it's just not going to be. The build quality is incredibly impressive and I hope that whatever I move on to will have the same heft and solidity of build. It weighs just over 40 lb and if you tap a knuckle just about anywhere on the entire thing the feel and sound lets you know that it is absolutely undeniably solid.
