Lyric Audio Skala

This outstanding moving coil cartridge has about 700 hours of use and is in good condition. It has been used in a smoke-free, pet-free, and yes, even a child-free environment.  I've taken very good care of the Skala (as anyone with a $4K cart would!). 

I also take rigorous care of my cartridges and records.  Correct tracking force, antiskate, ultrasonically cleaned records and ultrasonic cleaning of the tip extend life of the cartridge and your records.  The photos from my digital microscope show the tip is in excellent condition.  It has many hours of use remaining.  

The Skala is of medium compliance (12x10–6 cm/dyne at 100Hz), weighs 9gm, has a solid-boron cantilever, and a low-mass, line-contact stylus of natural diamond that measures 3 by 70µm. The cartridge's internal impedance is 5.5 ohms, its output voltage a generous 0.5mV (5cm/s, zero–peak, 45°).

In terms of tone and, especially, texture and harmonics, the Skala has more in common with the Titan i than with the Helikon—and it's better than the Helikon in every way, particularly in the midrange, where it fully fleshes out richness and color that the Helikon only suggests. Like other Lyras I've reviewed, the Skala is an outstanding tracker, and its generous 0.5mV output will drive almost all low-output MC phono preamplifiers with ease."
