Benz Micro LP S-MR cartridge — FREE SHIPPING

For sale one Benz Micro LP S-MR phono cartridge — SN: 38792.  This is the latest version of their flagship model — original price $6,000.. This is a cartridge about which The Absolute Sound’sanalogue maven Jonathan Valin said, “… I think the Benz LP S-MR is one of the two or three best cartridges I’ve had in my system. It is outstanding.”  While it is no longer one of his reference cartridges, it was for several years and has only been replaced on his reference list by three much more expensive cartridges.  It is currently listed in The Absolute Sound’s2019 Hign-End Audio Buyer’s Guide.

This cartridge was purchased new from an authorized dealer and installed in the tonearm (the only tonearm in which it has been mounted) by a skilled cartridge installer.  After removing the cartridge from my tonearm, I sent it to the technician who originally installed it to check for wear, etc. and in his email reply he stated, “It looks very good to me. VERY little wear and exceptional alignment.  …  If I was to guess wear, I would say less than 500 hours, possibly 250?”  My guess is probably closer to 500 hours and that is my reason for rating the cartridge 8/10.  Also, you can see from the photographs how exceptional the alignment is.  It has not been out of the box since he returned it, so you can be sure this represents its current condition.

The cartridge has been in a smoke and pet free environment and comes with its original wooden box, level bubble — however, I do not have the outer cardboard box.  NOTE: In the images showing the complete set, the level bubble is not centered because I photographed the box at an angle to avoid the keystone effect.
