These are absolutely stunning, Bowers and Wilkins DIAMOND floor-standing speakers--the very latest version: D3. They're piano black and beautifully styled. If you love audio and enjoy the finer details of listening to music, you will want to hear these speakers.
If you don't know about the magic of B and W, you're in for a surprise. The complexity of the sound image is stunning. The musical detail is exceptional. The bass is super tight and can be room-shaking if the recording uses that much bass.

If you know Bowers and Wilkins Diamond D2, D3 is an entirely new experience. I have owned both, A-B'd them, and there's no comparison in the sound staging, image width, fine detail, and refined, awesome bass.

B and W took 4 years to completely re-engineer the D3 diamond series after the D2 series with spectacular results. There are many enhancements, including a redesigned cabinet with a curved front to reduce wave cancellation, a larger tweeter and two, new, patented fabrics for the midrange and woofers. When you play a piano piece, it feels like the piano is in the room. Whatever music you like, you'll hear things in your favorite recordings that you've never heard before. Whatever is recorded is what you hear, not like an AM radio version of a song, but the FM version, with detail, dimensionality, and spatial placement that lesser speakers just don't have.

The speakers retail for $9000. They've sold on that site that starts with E, recently for about $7000 + shipping + tax. I'd like to sell these locally. I'm the second owner. I have the original boxes but some of the packing material is in less than stellar condition, which was the condition I received them in. Photos 11, 12, and 13 show the cosmetic defects; two were professionally repaired. All of the cones and the grilles are in perfect condition. The speakers have been in a smoke-free, allergenic-free house. Look on CL for more photos.
The difference-maker will be you listening to them. I promise these speakers will make you run through your music collection so you can see what these speakers will do for your music. Do your research. Read the reviews. And then let me know if you're interested. We'll continue from there.
From the manufacturer:

Hear small details in a big way - Mounted atop the main enclosure, the Diamond dome tweeter in its solid aluminum housing delivers space, ambiance, and precise soundstage imaging.
Truly amazing sound - Voices and instruments are delivered with purity and precision, thanks to the smooth, accurate Continuum cone mid/bass driver.
Nimble and powerful - Solid, dramatic bass is delivered through the rigidity and lightness of the uniquely-shaped, variable thickness Aerofoil cone.
Braced for impact - Unwanted resonances can blunt the punch of the sound: advanced Matrix bracing keeps the cabinet ultra-rigid and damps out superfluous vibrations.

FAQ:

"Are they available?"
- Yes.

 "What's your best
price?" - My price is listed. Now it's your turn.

 "What's the lowest
you'll take?" - Well, what's the highest you'll pay? See how that question
doesn't bring us closer to a deal?

 "Can you
demo?" - Yes. Bring your favorite CD. It will be fun!

"Are you flexible
on the price?" - Not so much but please make your offer if you are already
familiar with the speakers. If you have never heard them, then it's probably better for
you to see and hear them before attempting to bargain.

"What is the
condition?" - Please read the description above and then ask specific
questions if you still have some. Better yet, seeing and hearing for yourself
answers a lot of questions.

"Will you
ship?" - I prefer not to in this case but will if I have to.

"Are you the
original owner?" - No. Like you, I think it's a much better value to buy
pre-owned instead of buying something brand new that loses 30% of its value
when you bring it home. I prefer to own older items that are holding their
value or appreciating.

"Why are you
selling?" - It's a lot of fun to try different pieces of equipment. I wish I could
keep them all but it's not realistic. Inquire if you must.
