I am the original owner of this VAC Renaissance 70/70 Mark III triode tube amp, which I purchased new from Innovative Audio in Manhattan. It is flawless cosmetically, looking basically like-new, and in perfect working condition (NOTE: the left power cord port socket on the back of the amp is loose - it does not affect performance or functionality, and has been that way for as long as I can remember - see attached photo for location of port). All tubes are carefully matched, very low noise, and in perfect working condition.

When the Renaissance amps were introduced, Harry Pearson, the founder of the Absolute Sound, reviewed the monoblock version and wrote the following:

"While it would probably be indiscreet and maybe even wrong to the call the VACs the best amplifier in the world, it's not an exaggeration to say they are, overall, the very best I've heard in my professional audio life, and they are that because they put the music back into high fidelity sound, where it has been, for so long, so sorely lacking."

The amp is totally "dual-mono", meaning it is in fact two completely separate amplifiers, each with its own power cord, that share a single chassis. It also has two important user features that take the work and worry out of owning a tube amp. First, the output tubes bias automatically, meaning there is no need to ever manually adjust the bias of the 300B output tubes - the tubes just plug into the amp and that's it. Second, the amp has a "sentry circuit" that monitors the 300B's and automatically shuts down any tube pair that goes out of specification or fails - all power is cut to that tube pair and a red LED corresponding to that pair on the front of the amp illuminates to indicate that the tube pair was shut down. The sentry circuit also monitors the 300B's when the amp is powered up and indicates when each tube pair has achieved normal operating parameters and is ready to play music.

The amp is available at two different prices at the choice of the buyer, depending upon whether the buyer wants the amp with premium Shuguang 300B's (Black Treasure brand) or standard Shuguang 300B's (Golden Dragon and VAC-Tested brands):

1) The asking price with five matched pairs of Shuguang's premium Black Treasure 300B's is $5,500. The Black Treasures are the best sounding 300B's I've had in the amp. 6Moons did a thorough review that can be accessed by googling 6Moons Black Treasure 300B Shuguang review.

2) The asking price WITHOUT the Black Treasure 300B's is $5,000, in which event the amp would come with two full matched octets of standard Shuguang 300B's (one set is branded "Golden Dragon", the other is branded "VAC-Tested" - both were manufactured by Shuguang and supplied by VAC as original equipment tubes).

As for the smaller 6SN7 tubes on the amp, I will include a matched set of four VAC-supplied original equipment Golden Dragon (Shuguang) 6SN7's. The new old-stock pairs of RCA Red Base 5692's and Sylvania 6SN7GTA/GTB's shown in the photos cost $500 and $300, respectively, and are NOT included and NOT for sale.

I will respond to reasonable offers, but will only sell for something quite close to my asking prices. The yellow amp base under the amp is a Silent Running Audio "Ohio-Class" base that was custom made for this amp - it is available for an additional $1,000 (original cost: $1,500 + $300 re-paint in yellow by my Volvo dealer's paint shop). I will ship only within the continental United States and will give preference to a local NYC metro buyer (drop off, pick up, or meet half-way are all possibilities). Shipping box, owner's manual and two power cords are included. Thank you.
