We will ship from the client's home in Bethesda MD 20817

We are proud to be offering what many in the know believe is the finest pre amplifier's made...  and are offering a
young and beautiful example of
one of
the very finest line stages in the world today, the Ypsilon PST-100 Mk II
Silver Edition.  Although perhaps not quite as
well-known as Ypsilon’s
phono stage, the PST-100 Mk
II line stage (also selling a Ypsilon Electronics VPS-100- Silver Edition Reference Phono listed on Audiogon sepertly) /// see our other Audiogon ad) has also won acclaim world-wide for its magical ability to
bring out the full glory that resides in
your music.

Although this unit is
just 2 years old, and barely broken-in, the owner needs (we are selling it for our great client)
– along with the rest of
his audio rig – due to
a family medical situation that calls for rapid downsizing.  His loss gives you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own the very best for just half the usual price!

Michael Fremer summed up
the PST-100 Mk
II’s
design, construction, and functionality
this way:

Ypsilon's PST-100 Mk. II is a full-function preamplifier that can drive most amplifiers in its passive mode, but can add a remarkably transparent, tube-based active stage when needed. It is beautifully and simply built using custom-designed transformers wound in-house, point-to-point wiring with custom-drawn silver wire, and hand-selected tubes designed for long, quiet, trouble-free use.”

 The PST-100 Mk II
has an
unusually flexible design, allowing the owner to run it either in
passive mode (attenuation only, no
gain) or
in active mode (if additional gain is desired).
The choice might depend in part on the output level of your front-end gear (analog or digital).  Better yet, the stunning Ypsilon remote makes it
simple and FAST to toggle back and forth between passive mode and active mode to achieve the best synergy with your front-end gear.

Audio reviewers have uniformly hailed the unrivaled transparency
of the passive mode.
For example, the reviewer at Dagogo.com noted:

“The PST 100’s tonal purity was great in either the passive or active mode, but on certain pieces of quiet and delicate music, notably with piano, flute, violin and clarinet, the passive mode produced an absolutely heavenly sound that made you feel as though the performer was in the room.“

And as Ypsilon itself points out, the active gain stage is also an
audiophile tour de force

“The active gain stage is a no–feedback S.E. triode, transformer coupled. The power supply uses valve rectification and choke regulation. Wiring is made with custom made pure silver wire. The transformer attenuator is placed after the valve stage, preserving the purity and micro details of the signal.”

This may explain why the Dagogo reviewer found both listening modes so beguiling, especially with regard to tone color:

“My first listen with the PST 100 in the system caused me to think that its tonality was really good. My second listen made me think that it’s the best I’ve ever heard. My third listen made it clear that the PST’s tonality is ridiculously good.”

Michael Fremer’s comments in Stereophile were equally enthusiastic:

In passive mode, there was literally nothing but the silver relay and the step-down transformer between the incoming signal and the interconnect to the power amplifier. The PST-100 sounded about as close to the source as can be imagined. All sources, analog or digital, were steps more transparent, three-dimensional, and closer to sounding "live"—or at least closer to the source going directly to the amplifierthan I've otherwise heard in my listening room.”

One of the last records I played before switching from the darTZeel to the Ypsilon was a 45rpm, single-sided, four-LP reissue of Jascha Heifetz's recording of Bruch's Scottish Fantasy and Vieuxtemp's Violin Concerto 5, with Sir Malcolm Sargent conducting the New Symphony Orchestra of London (RCA Living Stereo/Classic LSC-2603-45-200G). While it's considered to be one of RCA's best Living Stereo recordings, it's licensed from the UK and was originally produced by Deccathe engineer was the great Kenneth Wilkinson. The recording of Heifetz's violin is particularly exquisite, and a good test of a preamp's ability to convey instrumental attack, textures, and harmonic structures, not to mention precise imaging and dimensionality.

The PST-100 Mk. II managed all of those things with a purity, delicacy, and verisimilitude that surpassed the performance of any preamplifier I've heardand I've heard and owned some very good ones. When Heifetz plays spiccato (lightstaccato bowing), each time his bow bounced off a string, the Ypsilon reproduced the character of that physical contactits texture and tonalitywith glistening transparency and physical dimensionality. The only word appropriate to describe my first hearing of this album through the PST-100 Mk. II is thrilling. This familiar recording sounded more "real" than I'd ever heard it, with Heifetz more clearly delineated in space in front, and the orchestra arrayed behind him.”

And if that doesn’t make the case for you, friends, well, Michael Fremer summed up his experience with the PST-100 Mk II
this way:

For now, the Ypsilon PST-100 Mk. II is the most transparent and, therefore, the most perfect audio component I have ever heardor not heard.”

Finally, please do bear in mind that all of the above comments pertain to the standard version of
the PST-100 Mk
II.
The unit for sale here is
the Silver Edition, which replaces the output transformers with Ypsilon’s own purpose-built silver-wired transformers, wound in-house with Ypsilon’s proprietary silver wire.  The Silver Edition costs exactly twice as
much as
the standard edition (there’s
a LOT of silver in
those transformers!), but the sound quality is at least twice as glorious.

The owner has meticulously cared for his Ypsilon line stage, and it is in
extremely minty condition.  It
has seen light use, as
the owner has been out of state on
medical travel 50% of
the time for the last two years.
The Ypsilon has performed flawlessly and has never had any issues at
all – although it has kept the owner up
late at
night listening to music when he should have been catching up
on his sleep!

The Ypsilon line stage ships with all original factory packing materials (a bullet-proof flight case inside a bullet-proof double box!), cover, owner’s manual, etc.  The output tubes have years of life left on them, and Ypsilon has bought up a
huge supply of them, making replacement easy if
it ever becomes necessary.
