Reviews

Audiophilia - Anthony Kershaw - "My new reference loudspeaker","There are a legion of companies that make fine, one-off speakers, but few that parlay the designer's sound design into boxes/topologies of different shapes and sizes. Dancing with physics. You can add recent Sonus Faber models to the previously mentioned Raidho Acoustics, Wilson Audio, and Focal (Utopia line) that have achieved this difficult task (interestingly, three of the companies had a paradigm shift in sound design cues during the past decade, and with incredible success). Alta Audio is right there with them. And with the Celesta FRM-2 Loudspeakers, Alta Audio's 'Signature Speaker', this American-made gem is musically ready for anything an audiophile can throw at it. Very highly recommended. " read

Audiophilia - Martin Appel - "For those of you who want to achieve full range sound without the subwoofer/monitor problems, and don’t want, or can’t accommodate, big floor standers, the FRM-2s will be the answer. It will put that ear to ear grin on your face.","...the bass performance is extraordinary. If this was an expensive floor stander I would be pleased, but to achieve this level of performance in a 2-way stand mounted monitor is truly outstanding and I’m sure that most other 2-way monitors could not match it. The XTL bass tuning system developed by Mike Levy performs its magic. It produces not only deep and powerful bass but with accurate musical timbre."  read

Enjoy The Music - Ron Nagle - "Everywhere we read hyperbolic advertising and empty catch phrases that really do not explain anything. However, with the Alta Audio $13,000 FRM-2 speakers, this is one of the few occasions where the performance was equal to the promise. If you were blindfolded, you could easily mistake their sound for a large full range multi-driver speaker. The Celesta speakers fulfill my most important requirements. The sound stage between the speakers in my room is unusually wide rock solid and dead centered. The driver's horizontal dispersion is remarkable. The extension at both frequency extremes leaves nothing to the imagination. They are not cheap, yet certainly justify their cost. Bottom line, if I could afford them I would keep the Celesta FRM-2 speakers within my reference system." read

Tone Audio - Jeff Dorgay - "The FRM-2 is the perfect speaker for someone wanting state-of-the-art performance without having to deal with a pair of massive, floor-standing loudspeakers. Even in the context of a six-figure system, the Alta Audio speakers are never the weak link in the chain. It is as easy to hear the subtle differences between ARC, Burmester and Robert Koda preamplifiers as it is between phono cartridges and cables. These speakers could be an incredible reviewing tool. Hint, hint to Santa Claus: I’d love a pair of these under the Christmas tree." read

Robb Report - Jeff Dorgay - "In short, the FRM-2s redefine the high-performance monitor category." read

AudioCircle Discussion - "They are an astonishingly transparent speaker that play way way beyond their size. Very impressive and an excellent new listening tool here for us to use in evaluating our electronics." read
