Sounds of Silence Vibraplane Large Active

This large (24" x 30"), full-active Vibraplane is a
one-owner unit I picked up from an estate sale of my dear friend. It was used
as the base for a full-size VPI TNT turntable and was in one spot 'till it was
packed (by me) in 2000 for transport to my friend and his wife's retirement
home in NC. Unfortunately, he passed away almost as soon as they got there, so
it stayed, perfectly packed, in a protected storage until a few months ago when
his wife told me that she was finally ready to sell the entirety of his audio collection.
Both the automatically adjusting platform and the pump that comes with it are
in excellent condition, and the platform was tested to make sure the bladders
were OK and that the auto-level feature worked correctly. The condition is
overall actually closer to a 9 but I want to be conservative here. All is in
order. **Based on my past
experience with a number of Vibraplanes over the years, it is possible that you
might at some point need to retro-fit one of the small air hoses underneath as
you use it in your system.** Parts are still available from Sounds
of Silence in NH. The good news here is that the air bladders themselves are
all OK and hold air well. They are the expensive bits. I write this advisory to
remind you that this is a used unit, and while it worked perfectly in my tests,
I cannot guarantee that some maintenance might be required going forward. This
is also a good time to remind you that when moving and placing the
Vibraplane it is imperative that
a minimum of two people handle the unit, as it is quite heavy, and if there is
even a slight sideways movement while there is any load on the bladder feet it
is likely that they might be damaged, and they are expensive to replace.

All that said, this is an incredibly effective
isolation platform for turntables or anything else that needs to be
super-isolated from the environment in the listening room. And remember that it
comes with an active pump and is self-leveling.

The unit and its pump will ship on a strapped
pallet, as it is too heavy for UPS. Also, the pallet makes it much harder for
the truck delivery folks to damage the Vibraplane (and its pump) in any way. I
will ship to anywhere in the USA except for Hawaii, and I will ship to Canada.
