This renowned line-level preamplifier shall be shipped directly from the factory, having just completed the Eclipse upgrade ($5500) in October 2019. It has five pairs each of balanced and SE inputs, a tape loop (balanced and SE), and two pairs each of balanced and SE outputs. The condition of the unit is very conservatively rated. A remote control is included, as is a complete, additional set of factory-selected tubes. All photos of this component (S/N 3796) were provided by the head of Customer Support for Aesthetix Audio. What prompted you to upgrade to Eclipse and then sell the unit without listening to it? Hello,
I was not the original owner. I was looking for a very good balanced tube linestage with dual balanced outputs. I bought tye unit used from Upscale Audio, then had them ship it to the factory for a thorough check and perhaps upgrades. At the time I was aware of the signature upgrade, but not the Eclipse upgrade.
I had not bought any Aesthetix gear before, but knew their reputation and their long-term commitment to upgrading a very sound chassis. I decided to splurge on the Eclipse upgrade. But my hearing got drastically worse during the months of waiting for the upgrade, and in fact I wanted to wait to see whether my hearing would stabilize before taking the unit.
Although I could get lots of enjoyment from the unit, I decided that it was really too much of an extravagance for my single working ear; better to use the money for better purposes.
I also thought that buyers would prefer a unit direct from the factory, untouched since completion of the upgrade.
