The original Cardas Clear. The reviews have made a big deal about the matched propagation of Cardas’ new line, but the technology was pioneered here in the Neutral Reference. Neutral Ref was designed with studio applications in mind, so it works in long runs. It is more clear, extended, and open up top than the traditional Cardas line (Quadlink, Cross, and Golden Cross), while still producing the famous Cardas bass and capturing the air of Cardas’ more musical cables.
I find Neutral Reference speaker extremely close to Golden Reference in performance. It is more linear in the bass (not as "warm and full") as Golden Reference. In short, the Neutral Ref is still a Cardas cable, creating a large soundscape, and emphasizing instrumental body and texture over edge definition, but works hard to mitigate the reservations some had about the traditional house sound, specifically by being more open up top.
These are fine condition and about as clean as you'll find on the used market. Rating is mostly for age (2-3 years) but they have spent most of their life in storage.
