I am the original owner of this Marantz Reference line CD/SACD
player, and it has been pulling me in to the music for over 10 years. I don’t
care what other gear you have, the Marantz SA7-S1 is so beautifully made that it
will be the standout on your rack. It’s a stunning piece of audio jewelry that
looks better live than in any pictures. And at 50 lbs. it’s a beast.
In terms of sound, it’s smooth, effortless, and relaxed. So
easy to listen to. There is a wealth of detail, it’s just more about helping
you get lost in the music than encouraging intellectual analysis of the
recording techniques. I play drums, so appreciate slam, and low and high end
detail to hear the drum parts. My wife is a singer, so wants a lovely midrange.
We’ve both been very satisfied.
This unit plays perfectly and is cosmetically flawless.
Comes with the remote, manual, and factory box. Buyer pays shipping (actual
cost) and the 3% Paypal fee.

How smoothly and quietly does disc drawer operate?
Thank you! I'm not exaggerating when I say the build quality of this player is world class, in every way including the drawer mechanism. When Marantz decided to build a cost-is-no-object reference player as their flagship player, they built the drawer mechanism in-house. Here are a few excerpts from reviews:
A reviewer on head hi-fi.org >The SA-7S1 is an absolute dream to operate. It responds instantaneously to all commands, loads CDs quickly, and performs all its functions far better than any other piece of digital gear I’ve ever owned. The drawer opens and closes with authority; it’s all metal and does not wobble or jiggle like the cheap plastic ones when you insert or remove a disc. In the world of high-end, we often have to settle for quirky gear that performs erratically at best. We are sort of resigned that it just comes with the territory, and that’s a shame. It’s so refreshing to get a piece that actually operates in a way commensurate with its price tag.
Steve Hoffman Music forums > It has a brand new deluxe transport mechanism, designed to compete with Esoteric’s VRDS-NEO. No typical flimsy, jittery, off-the-shelf, cheap plastic drive for this puppy.
whathi-fi.com (on the player in general) > Perhaps the machine's greatest strength is its fluidity: instruments and vocals are delivered in an ultra-natural and convincing manner, making most rivals sound mechanical in their approach. It's this quality more than any other that makes the SA-7S1 such a likeable machine.
I hope hopes this help with your question.
