THIS IS A DDP-1 PLUS PS-5 upgraded power supply. The power supply replaces the internal one for upgraded performance. Contrary to first glance it ia an analog preamp although it has an excellent DAC built in with multiple digital inputs including USB, AES, Tosling, and SPDIF. I'm a dealer and these wee demos although they have been used very little, perhaps 100 hours. I became ill and am working out of my home. I am still an authorized dealer and these have full warranty. Shipping will be in two separate boxes, one for each. Insured, signature required. | How would this matchup with Primaluna Dialogue 7 tube monoblocks? I assume you're asking how they would compare. I've always liked tubes better in the preamp, solid state in the power amp. The output transformer necessary for tubes causes load interaction and less controlled bass in general. Overall the tube piece would be a bit warmer, a bit softer. This piece is extremely dynamic and has a lot of bass extension, power, and control. Two different pieces, for sure. I think these with a really good tube preamp in front of them would be a good matchup. I was an Audio Research dealer for years and did "hybrid" systems like that a lot. |
