Quad ESL-2805

SN G000117 and SN G000145 Perfect condition cosmetically  Local sale in Chicago area only. Original boxes and all associated hardware/literature included.  Classic 2805's not done justice in photos.  Elegant in person.  Some of the best sounding speakers ever.  These 2805's have the following history.  I bought them  new in factory sealed original boxes from Bruce Phan at Hi End Audio in Carrolton Texas in December 2018.  In November of 2019, one of the speakers developed a lower output.  I did some research and found that SDS Audio Labs (Sheldon Stokes, PhD) does the very best QUAD ESL repairs.  He uses a higher quality 3M mylar than QUAD and installs them in a climate controlled room unlike the QUAD factory.  I personally delivered the 2805's to Sheldon's shop for repair.  As it turned out, the panels were fine.  Only one of the electronic components had failed.  Knowing Sheldon's rebuild would replace the stock mylars known to be failure prone, I had him rebuild them anyway.  Sheldon also upgraded the capacitors (noticeable sound improvement) and replaced the thin binding posts with sturdier units.  He warranties his work for a year so these are warrantied until December of this year.  Effectively, this is a new pair of QUADS for a fraction of the price.
