Have two pairs of these but recently purchased the newer Edition 15 Veritas and decided to sell the extra pair.  The original Edition 5 ear pads have been replaced with the Merino leather ear pads taken from the Veritas edition.  They have been dyed black and although they are the newer magnetic design, a small amount of adhesive is required since polarity magnets were not installed in the Edition 5 chassis. 

Tuning: In photo #7, you will notice two ports filled with black foam.  Covering these ports with adhesive tape allows for overall spectral and bass tuning which depends on the degree of covering.  For maximum bass, the ports should be left open, or conversely, completely covered for maximum  bass reduction.  Accounting for personal preferences, one quarter, one half and three quarter coverings are also possible.  In order to balance the output, it is recommended that both ports be covered equally.

The Edition 5 unlimited is a brand-new version of the reference model. Visually, this new variant clearly differs from its predecessor: the ear cups, coated with ruthenium, give the new model a timeless and yet masculine finish. The discreet laser engravings on the sides emphasize the high standards that Ultrasone set for the manufacture of their headphones. The Edition’s tried-and-tested headband pad, which combines design and comfort in its own unique way, also adorns the Edition 5 unlimited. Although the new variant is not limited to a specific quantity, each set of headphones still bears an individual serial number to clearly signify how many of this headphone model have already passed through the trained hands of the employees at the manufacturing facility.

Unlimited S-Logic®
