My personal Krell Chorus 5200, 5 channels x 200 watts into 8 ohms up for sale. The amp is in great condition, no scratches or blemishes, lightly used in smoke & pet free environment. I am the only/original owner. It comes with all factory packaging and the included/required 20 Amp power cable (the owners manual was not provided, rather is online for download on the Krell website).
This is the proprietary iBias Pure Class A technology from Krell. This amp is part of the original iBias amplifier line rather than the newly upgraded "XD" circuit updates that are now incorporated into all current Krell amplifiers. The Krell factory will upgrade the Chorus 5200 to "XD" status for a $1,300 fee plus shipping both to and from the Krell factory. HOWEVER, note that I can very significantly assist any serious buyer with this expense. This will require a real time conversation between me and the potential buyer. Also, the retail price of the Chorus 5200 XD was raised $1,000 to $9,499 when the new "XD" improvements were introduced.
The Chorus 5200 is a great foundational amp for 5 channels. It performs beautifully in either 2.1 stereo mode (stand monitors + 2 subs in 2-channel mode) or in 5.1 mode (with a center and two rear channels for both audio and video) in my system. This amp has been flawless since the day I installed it, no issues at all (same experience I have had will all 3 Krell amps I have owned). I have owned the original Krell KSA 100 power amp, and much more recently the Evolution 402, but moved and reconfigured my then separate two channel and 5.1 channel systems into one. I can testify that the Chorus 5200 sounds better than the Evo 402 in numerous and important ways, although does not have the same degree of power (the E402 is stereo 400/800/1600 watts both channels fully driven into 8, 4, and 2 ohm loads). Only reason I am selling is I need more power due to buying new speakers which are lower efficiency and require more power, so I'm moving up in the Krell XD power amp range to get it.
Please note my perfect, long-time Audiogon feedback and associated comments. Buy with confidence! I will split shipping costs with the buyer via insured FedEx to the 48 contiguous US states. I will take PayPal (buyer pays me the extra to cover all PayPal fees). Also will take bank/certified check or personal check (will ship once the funds clear). Listing price is fair, low ballers will be ignored.
