Before putting my prized speakers up for sale, I sent the drivers back to OHM for a checkup. Since one of tweeters needed replacement, the president of the company, John Strohbeen, suggested that I replace both with tweeters from OHM'S top of the line F-5015 speakers ($11,000/pair). IT WAS A NO BRAINER. Mr. Strohbeen told me this is the first time he (personally) ungraded a pair of Walsh 5 mkII with the new top of the line tweeters. OHM Acoustics only made 500 pairs of the Walsh 5 speakers, so these speakers are TRULY ONE OF A KIND!! (Please note I have included receipts on the upgrade to Walsh 5 mk II AND the upgrade to include the new tweeters from the model F-5015.) Please note that the total amount in upgrades is over $4,000.000!!!
The Walsh produce uncanny clarity in the mids and highs..and because the base of the speakers are lined with lead, the low end rolls off powerful and CLEAN.The sound dispersion pattern produces a HUGE SWEET SPOT. Please note in the pictures on one speaker, there are two very tiny chips (pictured). On the other side of the same speaker, there is a superficial scratch that can be professionally buffed out (pictured). Despite the minor flaws, the finish on the speakers is mirror-like and the sound is in no way affected. The speakers live in a smoke free environment, and are played only once and a while. In the winter, I run 30 per cent humidity at 70 degrees. The result: the drivers don't dry out...and it's a perfect environment for the finish. These speakers weigh about 110 pounds each. As such, the casters make for easy placement. I don't have the original boxes, and I would only ship these with a company that could professionally package them.
The dimensions for the shipping boxes are only a guide. The speakers will be shipped in six boxes: 2 bases, 2 drivers, 2 grills. My experience is that the grills arrive in perfect shape, if not crammed in with the drivers. Thank you for viewing my ad and the accompanying pictures.
