Selling my Audio Research Ref 150 SE at a bargain price. I bought it used from a dealer two years ago, and didn't get any previous owner history from them. ARC told me they built it as an original SE in April 2016. Hour counter currently shows only 797.7 hours of use. That's only about 25% of the expected tube life of 3000 hours. The outer box is very worn and well traveled, but the inner boxes are perfect. The unit itself is very clean cosmetically and it sounds fabulous.
I've used it very sparingly (probably about 100 hours) since I've owned it. Turns out I've gotten too old and lazy to use it much. Nowadays I like to leave an amp on and forget about it. So from time to time I'll miss the sonic richness that only a great tube amp can provide: but frankly, I could use the money right now.
The photos aren't great, but the unit is in very good shape, with two small exceptions: one photo shows a very small nick on the front faceplate (under my finger) and one photo shows a screw head missing from the top cover (to the left of the SE badge). Unfortunately, the screw head is missing because it snapped off, leaving the thread in place. I didn't do this myself, but I failed to notice it when I bought the piece, thinking it was simply a missing screw. Of course it doesn't affect performance, but the embedded screw thread would have to be drilled out if an owner wanted to replace the screw. I rated the unit as a 7/10 because of this; otherwise it's a normal 8/10. No original manual, but I downloaded and and printed from the ARC website.
I'll pick up Paypal, shipping to CONUS only for a flat rate of $200 Fedex. I welcome pickup, or I'm willing to drive up to 400 miles (that's to Chicago from Minneapolis) for 20 cents a mile.
Thanks for looking, Dan
