Trickle-Down Technology Leads to Overachieving Performance: Hear CDs in a New Light with the Yamaha CD-S300 CD Player with Pure Direct Mode and Class-Leading Burr-Brown DAC

Yamaha ignores the boundaries associated what a budget-friendly CD player can offer by packing CD-S300 with an arsenal of technology inherited from its far more expensive CD-S1000 and CD-S2000 players. CD-S300 comes equipped with a class-leading Burr Brown 192kHz/24bit DAC that provides outstanding data conversion, superior signal-to-noise ratio, and improved dynamic range. Yamaha engineers further pushes the sound-quality envelope for this price range by individually isolating the power supplies for the motor drive, display, and the digital and analog sections. The approach reduces electromagnetic interference, and as a result, reveals more of your music's important low-level detail

Housed in an elegant brushed-aluminum chassis, CD-S300's disc transport bay is located at center mass to ensure greater stability and eliminate the kind of data reading errors that plague many entry-level CD players. Yamaha also utilizes a patented Intelligent Digital Servo technology that enables CD-S300 to accurately read damaged and dusty discs that often cause lesser players to malfunction. Innovative output circuits also help minimize CD-S300's signal path, delivering a degree of transparency and soundstaging one would expect from a much more expensive unit.

The same Pure Direct button featured on the company's more expensive amplifiers and receivers permits you todefeat the digital output circuit and display functions, ensuring the lowest-possible noise interference and, consequently, tremendous sonics. A front-mounted USB port offers trouble-free connection with any smartphone and tablet for easy streaming. Not to be outdone, CD-S300's cutting-edge DAC upsamples all files to CD-quality resolution, vastly improving the quality of compressed files with the mere touch of a button. A sleek, full-function remote, user-friendly display, and vibration-damping feet round out this giant-killing component.

Pure Direct Mode

The CD-S300 offers Pure Direct, which is the same popular feature included in Yamaha amplifiers and receivers. By pressing the button on the front panel or on the remote control, it shuts down the digital audio output and turns off the display. This achieves the lowest possible noise interference and, therefore, the highest sound quality of the analog audio output.

Sophisticated Circuitry and Layout
Yamaha technicians devoted a great deal of time and effort to designing the overall interior layout of parts and circuit boards, a factor that significantly affects sound quality. As a result, the power supplies for the motor drive, display and USB sections, as well as the digital, and analog sections are individually isolated, eliminating electromagnetic interference among them. To achieve ideal weight balance for stable performance, the drive mechanism is located in the center of the unit.

Short Signal Paths
The highly logical and symmetrical internal layout of parts and circuit boards are designed to keep the signal paths on each board as short as possible. This purposeful design also keeps the paths between sections straight and short, minimizing the chance of signal loss or interference, something not easy to achieve.

Well-Matched, High-Quality Parts
Each of the individual elements in a CD player influences the sound quality, which is why Yamaha puts a great deal of effort into the selection and matching of parts and materials. A high-grade acoustic capacitor, a new low noise, high-gain bandwidth op amp and the use of damping material under the transformer and around the signal cables are just a few examples of Yamaha’s commitment to great sound quality. In short, the CD-S300’s internal sophistication is on a level generally found on much more expensive models.

High-Performance DAC
Utilizing a Burr-Brown 24-bit/192kHz DAC, the high performance D/A conversion system takes full advantage of the digital technology refined by Yamaha over a period of many years, ensuring excellent conversion precision, S/N ratio, and dynamic range.
