Air Tight ATM-211.

The sonic charms particular to SET (single-ended-triode) amplifiers are widely known by the virtues of the WE300B tube. However, due to its limited output power, less than 8 watts, the selection of compatible loudspeakers is very small. Many audiophiles have expressed a strong desire to have a SET amplifier with output power exceeding 20 watts. At present, well-known tubes that deliver such power are the 211, 845 and 805. Because of the high voltage imposed on the plate, both the 845 and the 211 are not commonly used in amplifiers today. Nevertheless, their sonic charms and excellence have been highly rated among certain discerning audiophiles. A & M Limited is introducing the second generation of its SET series following the famed ATM-300. A new monobloc amplifier featuring the 211 direct-heated high-power triode, the first Air Tight amplifier of the 21st century and commemorative of A & M Limited’s 15th anniversary, this amplifier is called the ATM-211. The 845 tube has a large bias that requires the utilization of a driver transformer (so called Transformer-Coupled-Circuitry), and of late, some European manufacturers have introduced high powered amplifiers using this tube. In order to achive the immaculate sound inherent in the 211, we employed an all-stage triode driven circuit configuration, thus avoiding the driver transformer, utilized with the 845, that exerts a detrimental influence on sonic quality. The ATM-211 represents our consistent and successful style of audio circuit design.

FEATURES:

1. Class A operation.
2. No negative feedback.
3. High power by direct-coupled cathode follower/driver.
4. D/C driven heater filament to eliminate hum.
5. Relay muting circuit for long life protection of electrolytic capacitors for the output tubes.
6. Independently wired transformers for amp-stage, bias, and heater relay for an ideal power supply. 7. Large Tamura output transformer offering wide bandwidth.
8. Bias meter to check the operation of the output stage.
