The new generation Mela is LaHave Audio's 16th monitor.It is the result of over 35 years of r&d,and building,all with the goal of reproducing exactly what is recorded,right to the tiniest bit of fine detail,yet with the ability to produce the required headroom of any recording.The original Mela is an excellent speaker.The new generation is even better,with incredible new technology via the small full-range used as the mid-tweeter.The same approach was used in the original Mela,using a small,high quality full-range as the mid-tweeter in a two-way system.The only limit of the new driver is low bass,which is a mute point in this setup.It allows for an incredibly transparent,low slope croosover,placed so the off axis dispersion is perfectly even.This gives great accuracy,and imaging.It also plays very correctly into a listening room,taking a lot of room distortion out of the listening experience,allowing for a larger(more depth) "sweet spot".  The mid-range and upper range of this new generation is astounding.It is very dynamic(when required),accurate,transparent,and musical.The lower range is excellent.The combination sounds like a true point source,as the integration is so perfect. Freq response-40hz-20kh,+/- 2db sensitivity-87.5db,1W/1m,8ohms power handling-80 watts continuous physically time- aligned for minimal signal depravation perfectly voiced for as recorded experience.  Jim MacCleave  LaHave Audio
