Purchased in the early 2000s (exact date unknown) this unit has the fully differential balanced outputs. The transport mechanism failed and was replaced about 10 years later (again, exact date unknown). Its use was limited to active listening sessions, whereas a CD changer was used for everyday music.
Miles was Theta Digital’s first Compact Disc Player, based on the Pearl’s ultra-stable transport, D to A conversion using Theta’s proprietary algorithms, and an analog volume control similar to Casablanca’s. The DAC is a hybrid combining the advantages of one-bit with those of 18 bit technology. It has four excellent power supplies and jitter reduction technology.
