For sale is a Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme 1.2. This unit has been upgraded by Backert Labs to reduce the noise floor beyond what was originally already great. The noise at idle volume is now on par with my solid state Pass Labs preamp, and more in line with Backert's 1.3 versions. The decrease in noise floor has improved the level of audible detail. It will ship in original packaging with remote, manual and original tubes (which have less than 50 hours on them). Check out all of the amazing reviews of this preamp on A-gon and other forums.
There is a slight mark on the face plate (see pics), but isn't that noticeable from a distance (the only reason for the 7/10 rating). Also a tiny nick on the side (also see pics), otherwise this would be rated a 9/10. Open to reasonable offers.
Shipping is a flat $50. Buyer add 3% for Paypal fees, or no additional for Paypal F&F.

| Curious. You had Backert upgrade it, but it is only close to a 1.3? I guess text upgrade simply does not fully achieve the spec of 1.3? Don’t get me wrong, from what I hear about Backert, I’m sure it is outstanding. Yes, it wasn't an upgrade to the full 1.3. The 1.3 is dual mono I believe with a few other changes as well. |
| Sorry. No idea how I missed yours is Extreme. So RE new is $7,000. So, I guess a RE 1.2 was $5,550 when you bought yours. Again, sorry No problem! Yes, you're correct. The 1.2 Extreme was $5,500 when new. |
