Pair of Vandersteen Quatro speakers with balanced high pass filters. These speakers have been in a pet, child & smoke free environment. They have not been exposed to direct sunlight, and so the fabric covering and cherry wood trim have not faded. They play beautifully and look great. (I have rated the speakers at 8 because two of the six floor spikes were damaged in transit. They have been repaired by a skilled cabinet-maker and so they function as new and, as the repair is underneath, it is not visible.) I have used these speakers with high quality electronics/cables and have never really pushed them. I am selling them because I have recently purchased a pair of the latest Vandersteen Quatro model, the Wood CT. I have Vandersteen crates, but prefer sale/pickup in the Northern California area. Price is well below Blue Book to encourage a quick local sale.

I appreciate your response. So individuals who bought the Wood Version paid close to $4k for the cosmetic difference? My best friend had a pair of 3A with a pair of Vandersteen subs before the Quatros came out. The sound was excellent and I guess I told that setup did sound similar to the Quatros. Maybe I can find a trucking company to pick the speakers up since a local dealer wants $5k for them.
Randy Hi Randy. Yes. I had a pair of 3As, which sounded great. Never felt the need for a sub. But having an integral sub in each speaker is very nice. I always thought the cloth Quatros looked great. But my wife really likes the looks of the Wood CTs. Regards, Ed |
| To your knowledge is there a significant sonic difference between the wood versus the cloth version of the Quatro. Hello. If you are referring to the Quatro Wood which came immediately after the cloth version, I believe the answer is “no difference.” If you are referring to the new Wood CT, the tweeter is different, and I think I hear more high end resolution. I replaced a Bryston preamp with A Pass Labs 22 not long before buying the CTs. The preamp change was a much more dramatic improvement than was the speaker upgrade. Hope this helps.
