Salk Sound Exotica 3

Up for sale is my beloved pair of Salk Sound Exotica 3! These have been in multiple systems of mine since receiving them in early 2015. They strike a wonderful balance between transparency and naturalness allowing them to present music and movies beautifully. 

I am selling because they are currently sitting in my living room mostly unused except for an occasional movie with the family. 

With the help of two sealed servo-subs on each side, these speakers are full range with a +/- 3DB 20-20000 frequency response. 

They utilize the SEAS Exotic tweeter and midrange. A combination of drivers that costs $1100  just for the top half of the speaker!

Combined they have an efficiency of 92DB allowing for a wide selection of amplifiers. 

This particular pair was made with two upgrades over the standard model; beautiful Mexican Ziricote veneer and Clarity Cap MRs in the tweeter and critical midrange crossover parts. 

The current price for a new pair is 15K. With upgraded veneer and crossover parts you are looking at well over 17K and a 6-12 month lead time! 

Rating a 7 because of age and a few veneer imperfections that have been with the speaker since I took delivery. They haven't caused any further issue and are not noticeable unless you actively were looking for them. 

I've had several questions about the veneer imperfections. I added two additional images. On one speaker there is some discoloration on the top corner. On the other wood filler was used to level a figuring in the wood but the clear coat ended up contouring around the figuring. This creates a "wavy" look if you shine light on the area. 

I have the original shipping boxes for the speakers. Obviously I would prefer local pickup, but if a seller is willing to arrange freight shipping, I would entertain that as well.
