What I am offering is not a
"hand-me-down." It is a
brand-spanking-new product and to make a long embarrassing story short -- I
ended up with two of them. It has full differential
inputs and outputs (cartridges are inherently balanced differential devices and
your turntable can be upgraded with XLR outputs) plus the usual single-ended RCAs.
It is all discrete (no IC op-amps) and has the adjustments
available in terms of gain, input impedance, balance, and input capacitance all available on the front panel for real-time adjustments. It even
has two playback curves that are switchable on the fly -- RIAA and Decca. Musically -- it has transformed my LP
playback and does things only my Red Rose Rosette 2 could wish to do. Moving-coil cartridges are direct in -- no
transformers are used.
It is dead quiet and as
good as what you are feeding it. I have
been gob-smacked ever since I installed one in my system. It comes with a switch-mode power supply
which gets the job done, but Pro-Ject also offers a linear supply for an
advertised improvement. I got myself an
after-market linear DC power supply (not Pro-Ject's offering) and I was
unexpectedly surprised as to how the playback quality improved.
This phono stage offers playback quality that
is liquid and sweet, yet with high resolution where inner details in recordings
that you haven't heard before are revealed.
Add to that the magical mid-range -- you won't be disappointed.
I offer it for $1,800 plus
shipping. Included is standard 20-vdc
power supply and user manual.
Attached is a manufacturer’s
brochure and photos of the actual unit you would be buying from me. The "under-the-hood-photo" is from
the internet. Packing and shipping
cartons are the original manufacturers' packing.
