Like-new cosmetic condition and operational condition. BP-26 preamp module, MPS2 power supply and BR2 remote control. Manufactured in last week of 2016 (date code "16 52", which means 52nd week of 2016).

The BP-26 is Bryston's best current-production preamp - the BP-26 preamp module retails for $3,995, the separate MPS2 power supply retails for $1,865, and the full-function BR2 remote, which can also control Bryston digital components, retails for $375. It has the smaller, 17-inch faceplates that are flush to the side plates, not the ugly 19-inch "rabbit-ears" type.

There are a number of reviews of this preamp online (The Absolute Sound: "The BP26 sounds musical and engaging with fabulous rhythmic drive and momentum. It is totally neutral with an open quality that does not veer toward edgy or forced. It imparts a sure-footed foundation with a good base extension and control."). Compared to five-figure preamps I have owned from Pass (XP-20) and Rowland (Coherence II Version 2), and to very good BAT, Hovland, CAT, Jadis and Audio Research preamps I have also owned, I note the following:

-   Just as quiet and high-resolution as the Pass and the Rowland (which is incredibly important in a preamp).
-   Hands-down best reproduction of timbre I have experienced in a preamp (e.g., an acoustic guitar sounds exactly like an acoustic guitar).
-   Rhythm and drive just behind the Pass
-   Superb bass, just behind the Pass.
-   Soundstaging and air around instruments and voices second to Pass, equal to Rowland, and better than my tube preamps
-   Excellent build quality, second only to Rowland.
-   Excellent functionality, the controls being simple and straightforward to use.

I have been surprised that it performs as well as it does given its moderate cost compared to my crazier preamps - its portrayal of timbre is probably what stands out, the BP-26 clearly being the most accurate preamp I have owned. I am selling because I have just purchased a fully differential balanced amplifier that I will run with a fully differential balanced preamp (the BP-26 has balanced input and outputs for user convenience, but the circuit is single-ended).

Sale includes the BP-26 preamp module, MPS2 power supply, BR2 remote control, the original owners manuals for each, and original factory boxes that will ship inside a second larger box (see photos). I do not have the original purchase receipt required for the 20-year warranty to transfer (for Bryston gear built after 2008 or so, the original purchase receipt is required for the warranty to transfer).

I will sell and deliver only to buyers within the continental U.S.

Lowball offers will be ignored (trust me). The units are priced below Bluebook for their age and condition.

NOTE: This is a BP-26 WITHOUT built-in phono stage and WITHOUT built-in DAC - it is just a preamp.
