Of couse you care about the sound... If supplied with newly reissued British Mullard 12AX7s, I will lower the listed asking price $150 down to $2,150 for this incredible sounding British preamp; it will sound great... This may be a good option, especially if you already have a great pair of vintage 12AX7s that you"d love to use.
If, however, you would be considering going for my full advertised asking price for this preamp at $2,300, it will now come with your choice of either a very rare matched pair of 1963 NOS Military Chrome Plate Mazda 12AX7s (close tolerance, lowest noise, rugged version) from France, or a matched pair of early NOS 1960's West German Telefunken 12AX7s - likewise mirror matched, low microphonic, graded 'phono select' for their low noise. (See the photos I've taken)
I can assure you that you will find here incomparable timbre and tone, wide and deep soundstaging, great extension from lows to highs, and hear a stuck piano chord's long decay... you will get an altogether more believable and vivid picture of the musicians. Reputable vacuum tube sellers are typically asking $400 or more for either matched set I am offering, if they even have them.

Whatever signal gain vacuum tube pair you chose above, I will still be including a vintage NOS pair of matched 1960’s R.C.A. 6FQ7/6CG7s for the cathode follower stage, (plus a spare). Other add-ons I am including will improve the sound as well: one Herbies Audio tube damper for each of the four tubes, and a better sounding HIFI-Tuning fuse (besides the original fuse).
This wonderful dual mono, class "A" preamp was built using very highly regarded Hovland capacitors and that too makes an appreciable difference to the sound's character.
This version of the preamp I am selling comes with a metal remote for volume & mute functions, which added another $500 to the original list price.  I have inquired about getting a new replacement remote with the current distributor for Art Audio, and will know the cost soon. It works, but reducing the distance to the preamp is required which is, to say the least, not ideal. My asking price for this preamp reflects that minor shortfall. You will find preamp itself in immaculate condition; it still looks new, and works like a charm!
More extras are included to sweeten the deal... Accompanying the preamp, along with what I have already mentoned, are:
   1) an unused pair of 6FQ7/6CG7 Yugoslavian EI output buffers which originally came with the preamp, that sound more analytical.
   2) one pair of "Smooth" Brazilian R.C.A.s purchased from Upscale Audio for $100 used about a year before I changed them out for the vintage 60's R.C.A.s   I won't have a need for these anymore, and it will be nice for you to have some altenative choices, and backups for piece of mind.

Although looking much like it, the DM-VPS isn’t the same as the $13,000 Art Audio Conductor Line Level Preamp, which is Art Audio’s statement offering, which uses 6922s and 12BH7s, has a built in headphone amp, and includes balanced inputs.

Scott Bierfeldt of Verdant Audio, told me he will be introducing the newest Art Audio preamp at Axpona this year, which will have a quartet of 12AU7s. He told me he feels the DM-VPS is an amazing piece piece of gear, and hard to beat for the price. What I am selling is an earlier version of Art Audio's currently priced at $8,000 DM-VPS, which has been brought up to date with a few minor tweaks, and has the different tube compliment.

A 2009 review of Art Audio’s best Art Audio Conductor Linestage (description is at the end of review describing Diavolo SET amp it was paired with) https://6moons.com/audioreviews/artaudio9/artaudio.html

I have held onto this preamp, having purchased it from Upscale Audio only one year after it was made. The serial number is #1013 for people who care about that kind of thing ;-)
It has been a hard decision letting it go, but the time has come.
