Ampex ATR 102

Direct from a Mastering Studio (Kessler Mastering), Ampex ATR 100 series (102 denotes 2 track) set up. This tape machine was used in a professional mastering studio for the last seven years to mastering records from tape & laying back digital masters to tape for the sound when requested. The machine was maintained by John Chester, the designer of the Plangent tape archiving equipment and former head of the AES historical committee. John is one of the best Techs on the planet for tape machines. 

The deck comes with both 1/2" and 1/4" headblocks and rollers, and an original ATR remote so the machine can be operated about 20' away from the listening position to reduce any noise coming from the machine's operation. The deck has been maintained maniacally for absolute, perfect operation. The machine will be coming directly from John's shop in Baltimore after a once over from him to ensure the deck is in perfect operating condition. The 1/2" headstack has a Flux extended response playback head. 

If you are seeking a machine for playback, you can do absolutely no better than this, setup with all of the mods that mastering studios use for reliability and sound quality. Both headstacks are equipped with record heads and of course perform perfectly for both recording and playback.
