SONUS FABER - Artisan of Sound.

Sonus faber S.p.A. (est. 1983) is based in the small town of Arcugnano, Vicenca province in North-Eastern Italy. Sonus Faber speaker models are hand-bulit and differ from most other speaker manufactureres models, in that they were built from solid, seasoned wooden staves (called slats - evidently dried two years in a kiln). The staves are hand-picked one by one "so as to control the harmonic structure of the resonances". Each chosen stave are clamped and hot-glued to the next, and thereafter hand-sanded and varnished like a fine violin, explaining why these speakers are not of an average design.

The side panels, fabricated from 1"-thick contoured MDF and finished in gloss-black lacquer, are acoustically decoupled by the folded-over leatherette. They're screwed-in and glued, the goal being to reduce the low-frequency acoustic influence of the large, flat side panels on the drivers.

These are on display and ready to be auditioned in our showroom.
