pair of MBL 101 e in high gloss black & silver.
Both speakers are in 9/10 excellent condition. One speaker has tweeter distortion and can easily be fixed with new tweeter or repair adjustment. Should consult with authorized MBL rep.
I live in Altadena, CA and am happy to demo on site.
This is the MK 1. It is a 4-way floor standing loudspeaker system. 3 omni directional bending mode drive units plus in separate lower enclosure passband loaded 12" woofer. Frequency range 24hz-40khz, sensitivity 82 db normal inpedence 4 ohms. The 101e's ability to transport you to a 3 dimensional listening space (with life-like scope and size). The sound of actual acoustic space is uncanny. I have owned Maggies, Martin Logans, SoundLabs, Apogees, and nothing recreates the sound space like these MBl's. Your entire room is the sweet spot. Speakers are in excellent condition, cosmetically and sonically. 2 small scratches are on the back of one MBL where the grill used to sit (who uses grills anyways??). There are no grills on this pair of MBL's, but have custom made dust and protective covers which are included, along with spikes and custom shipping crates. No owners manual (can be downloaded on-line). PLEASE NO DREAMERS, SERIOUS ONLY. Buyers pay PAYPAL and Shipping costs. U.S. shipping ONLY.

| Is shipping totally out of the question? I have the shipping crates, so shipping is not out of the question. It probably costs around $1700.00 for shipping.
Because one of the speakers is not working properly, I have decided to take them to an MBL recommended repair shop in Los Angeles for servicing, but not till after New Years.
When the speaker(s) are working perfectly they should be able to sell easily for around $16,000.00.
In the meantime, let me know if anybody wants to purchase for
$10,000.00, as is. |
| Have you priced out a replacement tweeter? Corresponding with MBL N America. They are not quoting prices yet, while they are gathering info from me. Hope to get some replacement prices by next week. |
| Are you perhaps the third owner of these speakers, given your lowish asking price? (Of course aside from the apparently blown tweeter.) Thanks. Hi Gary, I bought them used, so at least the 2nd owner. That's all the history I know of. |
| Thanks for the info - By the way, were you made aware of the damaged tweeter at the time you purchased these from the previous owner? The person in Maine that I purchased from in December, 2020, stated that the speakers were in "excellent condition cosmetically and sonically". I have sent messages to him, but have received no response. |
| Speakers are in excellent condition, cosmetically and sonically. So there is a problem with the tweeter but they are in excellent condition sonically? How is this possible? You are correct. One speaker is excellent cosmetically and sonically, the other is fine cosmetically but has some sort of internal damage to the tweeter. |

| I see that there are photos, exactly like the ones here on your post, and, description is the same from a person in Maine. Can you explain this, please?
Also, every member who left feedback, do not have feedback of their own. This seems odd.
Thanks for your time. These speakers were purchased from the person in Maine, in December of 2020. Didn't uncrate and play until November 30, 2021. Since these are the exact speakers in that December, 2020, listing, I used the same pictures and description. One speaker plays perfectly and the other one needs a replacement for one of the two tiny drivers at the top of the speaker. |
