A King of Turntables

The Kyocera PL-910 is an extremely rare turntable. Kyocera had only been in the Hi-Fi business when they abruptly stopped producing all audio equipment. Perhaps, only 150 of these turntables were ever built; as no one seems to know the exact number produced.

This turntable was a joint venture between Kyocera and Micro Seiki. Kyocera, being a world leader in ceramics, produced the extremely high-tolerance ceramic bearing. They also produced the ceramic platter and ceramic compound resin, while Micro Seiki designed and crafted the table substructure and provided the motor and drive system. The ceramics used in the platter and bearing have a rigidity of approximately 5x that of aluminum and approximately 2x that of steel. Furthermore, the ball of the thrust bearing has a circularity consistent with .5 microns.

I’m offering this turntable, which is one of three that I own. I will continue to keep and use the other two tables for my audio systems, which include the Fulton Premiere and Fulton J speaker systems. Service manual and instruction manual will be included.

Of all the tables I’ve owned and listened to, none compare to the Kyocera PL-910. It presents a purity throughout the entire frequency range, from the highest piccolo and triangle to the lowest hall sounds of the best symphonic recordings. If you listen to or own good organ recordings, the sound of organ pipes in great cathedrals have the power and majesty of real live music, usually unobtainable with Hi-Fi systems.

Your search for a near-perfect turntable ends here!

There is a good review of the Kyocera PL-910 on YouTube by my friend, Brian. He owned two of these turntables and has sold the one pictured in this video. His channel name is spacecoastsun.

Questions for the seller
Thanks for your reply. I assume the capacitors that were replaced were the same type recommended for the player and panasonic was just the name brand preferred by you. Please correct me if I am wrong in my assessment or fill me in more. My main concern is if parts needed to be replaced or have been replaced, how does one know if they are what was intended to be used by the manufacturer, and if they were not, what justification was used by you to choose the replacement parts you chose for the replacement. I am by no means questioning your abilities as a technician or credibility, i am just going on my curiosity as a potential buyer. What means was used to determine your asking price? I am in north Carolina. Where are you located?
Hello I’m here in IL. The circuit used in this turntable is for speed control. The brand of caps is most important when choosing for quality. There are other caps that can he used as long as they are chosen considering long term reliability. Panasonic, Elna, and other caps from quality companies can be used. I use trusted high tolerance parts that will last. Good electrolytic caps can last much longer than many people commonly believe. I have some equipment that uses Elna caps that still measure perfectly after 50 years. There are three reasons why I have priced this table as listed. Quality of sound purity compared to much higher priced tables, the unique build tolerances using a combination of ceramic and aluminum materials, (the extremely high tolerance bearing will never ware out) and the availability of these tables. The last two tables I have known of sold in this range. One on eBay and a private sale. I have used and or had access to many high end tables. I know the PL-910 is unusually sonically superior to all the tables I have owned or used. I have been a high end audio dealer of two stores. Most people sell their equipment and brag on it as they dump it. I alway ask them this question. If it so good why are you selling it? I have two of these tables that I am keeping for both of my systems! I’m not planning on ever selling them. Lastly I would sell the table for less if I did not have to pay the high fees and spend a lot of time packing this table securely. Tom
