LFD LE Special Edition (SE) phono pre-amp. Original owner. Serial number 204. Purchased from Gene Rubin Audio in Ventura, CA - an authorized dealer. Adjustable gain to accept either moving magnet (MM) or moving coil (MC) cartridges. The SE model has "a power transformer that's more than twice the size of the original" and upgraded wiring and isolation feet.
Gain is set as such: for moving-magnet (39dB) or moving-coil (53dB) cartridges. Phonostages are configured for 53dB, but 39dB can be selected by opening the chassis and removing, with de-soldering braid or such, a pair of solder links at the rear-center portion of the PCB. Sonically, there's significant rendering of musical details with space between performers. A natural timbre with deep bass and solid images. Run with Balanced Audio Technology (BAT) integrated and Sonus Faber speakers. Quite a value from this company in England.
In 2011, Art Dudley reviewed both the LFD LE and LFD LE (SE). The review is very informative and Art was a tough critic. Excerpt: "Both phono stages are lovingly made and cost-effective: two qualities that appear far too seldom in our hobby, and that virtually never go together when they do. Highly recommended!"

Questions for the seller |
---|
Hello, How old is this amp?
Thanks
Bob Hi, Bob. I believe I purchased it in 2015 or 2016. Although it was in my system, I seldom used it b/c I had other sources. Very nice sound and presentation. LFD is a small company, but they make quality gear. They favor high-quality electronics over marketing. -Rick |
