The famous John Hillig designed tube line stage.
This pre-amp has been upgraded by Musical Design and has 3 pair of matched Tunsal NOS. 1 pair is very good, 1 pair is NEW and the final pair are for backup.
This pre-amp is easy on tubes and if you leave it on 24/7 you get between 4 and 5 years out of the tubes.
This pre-amp inverses polarity to reduce the number of parts the signal goes through and was always rated the best value for decades. It was the lesser known pre that outdid the Audible Illusions. It is a giant killer as well sounding as god as many $5000 pre-amps.

| Which up grade did Musical Designs do on this pre amp and when was it done? John Hillig did the latest parts upgrades but no room in the chassis to add a phono stage.
Jensen caps is what I remember.
I got 2 sets of NOS tubes. The pair that are in it work great and have plenty of hours left on them and the other pair are brand new. Both are Telefunken 12 X sevens new old stock. |
