The 420 Acutex is in the top three of my all-time favorite vintage cartridge list. And more enjoyable to my ears than many current cartridges at any cost. Balanced. Fast. Powerful. Quiet. No real roll offs, top or bottom. Smooth but solid top end. It just makes real music.
The moving flux design may have been the last major new development in cartridge design.
Plenty of positive chat about this Acutex on Audiogon. This wasn't a "flavor of the month" cartridge. It is way better than that. Check into it if you have some spare time.
As I did on a handful of other NOS Japanese cartridges, I bought all I could after hearing this one. I still have a few left.
New, never mounted but these are over 30 years old. So they will take some time for the damper to loosen up and deliver 100% of their magic.

| Just a note to anyone interested in this cartridge: i bought one of these from Steve, and it is really a superb! It competes well with cartridges at 3-4 times it’s price. Appreciate the feedback Robert.
FYI, mine kept getting better through about 200 hours of use.
