Shindo Labs Lansing 801

Shindo custom loudspeakers. I purchased these locally from a friend of mine who had them imported from Japan.

From the information shared with me they were built by Ken Shindo for one of his regular clients. The when is a bit difficult to ascertain. They made their way to HiFido where they were purchased and professionally shipped to the US.

As far as I know I'm the 3rd owner.

The high frequency drivers are 1930's Lansing 801 and 801B field coil units. They came with non original diaphragms. Not sure if Mr. Shindo built them that way or not. I have those diaphragms and they will come with the 801s. I also have a set of paper diaphragms with copper voice coils in the 801s now and they sound amazing. Huge improvement in sound over the others and the 801 originals in my opinion and that of many others more knowledgable than I.

The crossovers and field coil supplies I'm told are Ken Shindo's design and as you will see from the photos employ vintage components.

The other 2 drivers are Jensen A12s also field coil units.

These open baffle cabinets made of pure cherry wood, weigh a lot and as you can see are very big. They are on casters for easier transport. I will consider offers for the individual components but prefer to sell as is.

For as is purchase local pickup is preferred but we can talk about crate & freight options.

Speakers are vintage and as such come with no guarantees. I consider them to be in 8 condition for their age. The cabinets have scuffs and scratches but are structurally in great condition.

These are a one of a kind speaker as far as I know and the sound is truly astounding. Just way too big for my space.
